Coming to a village hall near you this Autumn…..

The John Lucas Parish Tour

Writer and journalist Andy Denwood presents a lively, illustrated talk about the eighteenth century schoolmaster John Lucas and his classic book on Warton and the surrounding villages in North Lancashire. Andy will be showing some of the lovely new illustrations specially commissioned for the book from local artist Daphne Lester as well as photos of the area.

Expect a rich mix of geography, history and natural history with a liberal dose of detailed information about how local people made their livings 300 years ago: from farming, and fishing to making salt and smelting iron. Copies of the book will be on sale for the first time at these meetings for £15. Limited edition A4 colour prints of Daphne Lester’s illustrations (signed by the artist) will also be available at the meetings, price £20 unframed or £40 framed.
